Contrary to popular Belief
The F-22 “Raptor” isn’t the only bird in the sky with Thrust Vectoring Nozzles.
It actually started with the Russian SU-35 or “Super Flanker”, which was an update from the SU-37 “Terminator”. These thrust vectoring nozzles were made to counter the popular American F-15 in close-combat. The Americans, realizing this threat, proposed the “F-15/MTD” model, which was the first American aircraft to feature Thrust Vectoring Nozzles.
There’s your history lesson for today.
